If you’re interested in exploring new stitches and techniques for crocheting with multiple colors, I have two recommendations on excellent books for learning how to crochet colorful stitches:
Melissa Leapman’s exciting crochet stitch dictionary is filled with a number of different crochet stitch patterns, some of which are solid and some of which are multicolored. The stitches are all interesting, but in my opinion, the colorwork stitches are one of the main highlights of the book.
One of the coolest things about these stitches: The overall effect of each stitch pattern is colorful and intricate, but you only actually crochet using one color at a time — one color per row. That makes the colorwork completely manageable. Amazing! Check out an example here:
You can see many more of the stitches included in this book, plus read some insights Melissa Leapman herself has shared about them, in an interview that I posted with Melissa at KnittingandCrochet.net. I think you’ll really enjoy looking at photos of many more of the incredible crochet stitch patterns included in this book. You’re also invited to check out my detailed book review of this title.
Triple Play Pattern Stitches Book
Pictured here is another fantastic crochet book called Triple Play Pattern Stitches. Darla Sims is the author of the book and the designer of all the colorful, creative crochet stitch patterns featured on its pages. This is one of the most inspiring crochet books I’ve come across lately. The reason: color!
If you look closely at the cover of the book, you can see that the featured crochet stitch pattern is presented in three different colorways. The same is true for each additional stitch shown throughout the book, so you’ll enjoy choosing from three different colorful options for each stitch.
I highly recommend this book, for all the reasons I discuss in my book review of Triple Play Pattern Stitches.
These are both books I highly recommend if you want to improve your knowledge of multicolored crochet techniques. I hope you’ll enjoy these books as much as I am enjoying them!
